Green Lung Studio is excited to continue their music series curated by Bassist Hannah Marks.
Zoh Amba is a saxophonist and composer from Tennessee. She has recorded and played with great sound painters like William Parker, Vijay Iyer, Matthew Shipp, Eric Harland, Marc Edwards, Cooper-Moore, and Francisco Mela. She just recorded her first record with Mr. William Parker and Francisco Mela expected to be released in early 2022.
Pianist, composer, producer and improviser Theo Walentiny grew up in an artistic home. His world of influences include Cecil Taylor, Charles Mingus, Toru Takemitsu and Flying Lotus. Along with playing across top venues in New York City, Theo has performed globally including placed such as Israel, Switzerland and China. He released his debut album ‘Looking Glass’ earlier this year, a collection of solo piano improvisations to critical acclaim. For this performance, Theo will be presenting a set of electronic music featuring live processing, improvisation and interplay with pre-recorded material. Jēkabsone’s musical horizons start with simple Latvian folk song melodies, harmonies and structures and can reach to something more complex, more toward the world of improvisation. “My suite. Reflections” will embody this statement. As Jēkabsone describes – “This music will be self– exploration, my inner world’s reflections – what does a blooming flower mean to me, what is my wind song?! Every single song will have multiple meanings. Hopefully this self-discovery will lead people to search for their own meanings and interpretations. I define myself as a part of music and a vibrant color in the broad musical pallet. Who are you, my friend?”
“Arta Jēkabsone is a voice that will soothe any pain or suffering. She is the guardian and ambassador of light, love and peace. Yet, she still can bedazzle you with complex, but not overwhelming lines and melodies, and she freely takes command of harmony and rhythm.”

The group has been named Aurelia due to their sound being closely associated with the lucid-dreamlike appearance and movement of the Aurelia jellyfish. Rooted in jazz, Aurelia Trio’s musical language bears several other influences, particularly contemporary classical music and free improvisation. Featuring music written by all three members, original composition with an emphasis on improvisation is a key aspect of Aurelia Trio’s sound.
This show will celebrate the trio's sophomore album release
